The lack of performance optimization (which was never fixed) severely undercut support for the game, and the game only received 2 expansion DLCs; Charlemagne even plays like a Rome II campaign. Surprisingly Improved Sequel: Attila served as this trope after the disastrous release of Rome II. Downplayed once Rome II's Emperor Edition came out. We spoke exclusively with the Creative Assembly team about its game engine optimization for the upcoming Total War: Warhammer.

Welcome to!A subreddit for all of those who love the Total War series. I would love to know the answer as well. Rome 2 runs amazing on my system and Atilla, for not looking much better, runs horribly. Yamaha midi interface ux16 drivers for mac. So horribly it keeps me from playing. I have a gtx980 and an i5-3570k with 24Gb of RAM. I could maybe understand if the max graphics were incredible looking and just turning down the settings helped, but it seems no matter what I do the frame rates won't stay at a stable 60+. In fact, by the time I lower the graphics enough to even get close to 60 at all, the game looks WORSE than Rome 2.

Yeah it's quite silly. I just hope that because Warhammer is a big thing, they'll spend a lot of time optimizing it well, unlike Attila, so it runs well for a lot of people.

It's a shame cause I'd probably play Attila if it ran well but it doesn't so I'm not going to, and this leads me to believe future games will run just as bad so I'm not excited about any TW games anymore really, unless Warhammer comes out and runs well, but then I'm not going to buy it so I won't know for a long time. From the comments and my personal experience, I think CA made Attila more CPU intensive than GPU intensive and your i5 bottlenecks because it lacks multithreading. That's not to say Attila isn't horribly optimized, but if you're dead set on utilizing such a powerful graphics card and all 24GB of RAM I'd recommend upgrading to an i7-4000 or i7-5000 series.

The new i7-6000 series uses a completely different CPU socket on the motherboard than previous iterations and will require you to purchase new RAM sticks so I'd avoid it unless you intend to upgrade your entire rig.If I remember right, one of the best bang-for-your-buck processors is the i7-4790k and it does support Hyper-Threading so you should get a much smoother experience. 980 ti oc'd 1480mhz / i7 4790k 4.0 ghz checking inAttila chugs when zooming in and changing camera angles. When units clash its about 30 fps max. The game still is only detecting 3gb of vram when I have 6 it can take advantage of. I am running the game maxed out which shouldn't be an issue. I also max out any other game without any issues. From 70-90 fps.Pretty good indication how bad the engine is optimized.

It's always been bad. I really REALLY hope CA has it straightened out for Warhammer. Obviously you cant go by the footage because of the whole carthage fiasco with rome 2.

Everyone was super hyped and it turned out to flop if anyone remembers.Edit: rewatched the thundering falls gameplay. Seems relatively smooth except for a few trips in camera movement. Hoping that its simply because its alpha but im not going to hold my breath.
